Let’s talk tournaments!
Tournaments are a critical part of the Chaos Agents game and we have strong opinions about what makes for a fun, competitive experience.
The Popularium team is still exploring the best way to fulfill this experience for players so we expect this system to change often during the Alpha and we’ll try to keep you apprised of our current thoughts.
How the tournament system works today
As a player, if your goal is to prove your skill then you want to make it to the Platinum World Championship. This is where the top players in the world compete with their agents to prove that they are the best.
The Path to Platinum is a pretty simple route to explain. You’ll need to compete in and win successively more difficult tournaments until you’ve gotten your Platinum ticket for the championship.
Tournaments use a metal system to denote their quality:
- Iron - The introductory experience
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum - The World Championship
In general, you’ll need to win — be the Brawlmaster, Shardmaster or Survivalist — the previous tier of tournament to qualify for the next tier. I.e. You need to win a Silver Tournament to get a Gold Ticket, which lets you enter the Gold Tournament.
Entering Tournaments
Most tournaments will have an entry fee, which may be a certain type of Ticket, some BC, or even a specific type of Agent. For standard tournaments, the below table shows the entry fees and the special prizes:

When do tournaments happen?
As we add more players into the Alpha we’ll be expanding the number of tournament matches that are happening. You’ll be able to check on upcoming tournaments, and revisit the outcomes for older tournaments on the Tournaments Tab.
Medal Leaderboard
Every time you win a tournament — be the Brawlmaster, Shardmaster or Survivalist — you’ll earn a Medal to commemorate your win. These are different from tickets, which are expendable currencies, and are instead a permanent addition to your brokerage and agent. Think of them as trophies to remember each victory!
We will maintain a medal leaderboard throughout a season to help identify which agents are doing the best. This leaderboard will be used to fill in empty slots for high-end tournaments if a competitor drops out or cannot make it.
Your ranking on a medal leaderboard is calculated in the following way:
- Iron Medals: 1 pt
- Bronze Medals: 3 pts
- Silver Medals: 9 pts
- Gold Medals: 27 pts
Winning higher tier tournaments gives you a lot of points, but consistently playing can also give you a path to a high rank on the leaderboard.
Coming soon
Your Agent will keep track of how many medals they’ve won and these medals will be used as a high watermark for how successful your agent has been in the current season.
Medals will also change how your agent plays in lower level tournaments. Once your agent has overqualified for a tournament (Won a tournament 2 tiers higher; For example after winning a Silver Tournament if you entered an Iron tournament) your agent will no longer be allowed to win any of the win conditions and instead will function more like an exciting PvE objective for the other players.
